Battery Chargers

DESCRIPTION

Battery Chargers are basically Automatically Stabilised D. C. Power Sources meant to feed the connected load and simultaneously trickle (float) charge the connected Battery, thereby maintaining it (Battery) continuously healthy & ready to feed the load in an emergency situation of A.C. Supply failure. This arragement ensures an uninterrrupted D.C. Supply to the connected load at all times - by the Battery Charger in case of A.C. Power Supply availability or by the Battery in case of failure of A.C. Power Supply.

Battery Chargers are non standard products, meaning that they conform to the varied specification / requirements of the Consultants / Clients.

Battery Chargers draw power from the A.C. incoming supply, through a step-down Transfomer converted into D.C. by Rectifier, which (D.C.) is continuously & automatically maintained constant, under all working conditions, by employing controlling devices of either Thyristor (SCR) or Magnetic Amplifier or Servo-motor, associated with soild state control circuitries.


Features
Automatic stabilisation of D.C. Output Voltage within ± 1% (or even ± 5%) of the set level, irrespective of A.C. Supply fluctuations and / or load current variation, both with in the specified limits.
Inherent automatic load current limiting (settable) / output voltage sharp drooping characteristic to safeguard the Battery Charager from damage by automatically passing the overload to the Battery.
Auto / Manual mode selection facility.
Soft start to minimize inrush current into Battery on Unit Switch-on.
Minimum ripple content - less than 1% (or lower) absolute or less than 4mV Psophometric as desired.
Protection against A.C. & D.C. voltage transients.
Low Noise level.
Constant Voltage / Constant Current working selection, if desired.
Protections against single phasing and rectifier fuse failure, by automatic unit tripping.
Optional Protection and / or Alarms for D.C. under / over voltage, Earth Fault, A.C. under / over voltage, any other.
